New England's Metal Shows

Amidst a humid tuesday night the Arizona band appeared onstage before a Massachusetts crowd. Jimmy Eat World began their fifteen song set with a song off their latest album Integrity Blues. "Sweet and Certain" gave the fans of Jimmy Eat World a chance to flock in alongside the massive storm clouds overhead. The true afficianatos were greeted by the four person ensemble bathed in blue lights. Towering over Jimmy Eat World were four street lights adding a somewhat suburban feel to their performance.

Vocalist and guitarist Jim Adkins greeted fans with a smile while sweat poured down his face. The muggy weather would not hinder Jim or the other members of the band. Smiles filled the Xfinity Center as bassist Rick Burth and drummer  Zach Lind slowed down their tempo during the song "Pass The Baby." The end of that number would feature a jammed out unison between the band. It was unexpected to see that happen as though the band members were feeling in the zone.

"Pain" was featured in the set. A song most notable for players of the video game Tony Hawk Underground.  With a quick and fast paced tempo the song was completed with perfection and a five-star guitar solo.

Bleed American happens to be one of Jimmy Eat World's most popular albums. The setlist featured several songs that appeared off that album. The ballad "Hear You Me" featured a slow, mellowed out, and acoustic guitar toting Atkins with assistance from Tom Linton on rythym guitar and touring member Robin Vining on keyboards and occasional guitar backing.

The last two songs were conclusively the crowds favorite songs. As soon as Atkins began the opening riff of "Sweetness" he had already had the crowd jumping. The audience stayed on their toes during the next song which was one of Jimmy Eat World's most popular singles "The Middle." They would shred through the solo like a clean pair of scissors into tissue paper. Jimmy Eat World finished their set drenched in sweat while grinning wide and proud.  They had given us the world... and ate it right in front of us.
